May👸
Hello May,
Lately, while driving around town, I’ve noticed more moving trucks lining the streets and more people returning to the city. In our weekly meetings at my office, many of my colleagues have been sharing the same trend: young professionals and empty nesters are making their way back into the market and reestablishing roots in San Francisco. There is a renewed excitement in the air, and the housing market is certainly reflecting it.
The rental market right now is as competitive as it has ever been. Recently, I had the opportunity to help a young couple relocate to San Francisco for their very first home after moving out of their parents’ house. Even with excellent job offers and outstanding credit, they spent over a month and a half struggling to secure a rental. They were shocked by how competitive the market had become and even began discussing the possibility of purchasing a property with support from their parents.
Experiences like this are a reminder of how valuable it is to work with a real estate professional — whether you are renting, buying, or planning for the future. Through this process, I stayed closely connected not only with my clients, but with their entire family, and it became such a rewarding experience on a personal level as well.
Right after things settled down, we celebrated Mother’s Day, which is always a busy and meaningful time for my family. It reminded me that no matter how packed our schedules become, taking one weekend each month to slow down is absolutely necessary. Staying home, reorganizing life, and simply spending quality time with loved ones helps us reconnect and recharge from the constant weekly rush.
Financially and economically, the situation across the United States continues to evolve rapidly. Investors have seen tremendous growth in the stock market, with the S&P 500 and companies like NVIDIA reaching remarkable highs, while mortgage interest rates continue fluctuating around the mid-6% range. The second half of the year will certainly be interesting to watch as economic policy, inflation concerns, and consumer confidence continue shaping both the housing and financial markets. For everyday consumers, rising prices and expensive travel costs are becoming increasingly noticeable and will likely impact many families planning summer vacations.
Locally, my focus remains on how to navigate this evolving market more effectively and helping my clients position themselves strategically for long-term success. Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of attending an event hosted by Compass at the spectacular Decorator Showcase property on Broadway in San Francisco.
The home itself was extraordinary — a true showcase of craftsmanship, design, and luxury living. Every room had been transformed by talented designers and vendors, each bringing a completely unique vision to the space. Guests enjoyed champagne, wine, and an incredible selection of appetizers while exploring the property alongside agents, designers, and high-profile clients.
The home featured a stunning mix of bold colors, custom furnishings, dramatic marble surfaces with striking veining, and incredible architectural detail throughout. The first floor offered beautifully designed entertaining spaces, including an expansive kitchen, pantry, dining area, and breathtaking backyard.
The kitchen especially stood out to me with its oversized marble island featuring a triple bullnose edge, custom brass hardware, elegant cabinetry, and statement light fixtures that elevated the entire space. The dining room was equally unforgettable, with hand-painted golden walls featuring birds in flight — the level of detail was simply incredible.
The upper levels featured spacious bedrooms with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay, complete with fireplaces and luxurious finishes throughout. One of my favorite spaces in the home was the top-floor living room — bright, open, and designed perfectly for gathering and entertaining. The custom tilework surrounding the fireplace, the wood detailing throughout the room, and the carefully curated artwork created an atmosphere that felt both modern and deeply personal.
Although I spent only a couple of hours there, it felt like an entire day filled with inspiration. Listening to designers speak about the challenges they faced, the unique materials they sourced, and the stories behind each design decision made the experience incredibly memorable. As a first-time attendee, I walked away inspired on so many levels.
Now that the month is already halfway through, it feels like the best is still ahead of us. Memorial Day is right around the corner, summer is approaching quickly, schools will soon be out, and families will begin planning vacations and time together. There is an exciting energy building everywhere, and I’m genuinely looking forward to the weeks ahead — both personally and professionlly.
